- Adding Supplements to Hormone Optimization Therapy
Supplements like Vitamin C and Vitamin E can compliment bioidentical hormone therapy for men and women. Why? The cells and organ systems need a sufficient supply of energy in order to function properly. However, our energy reserves can be drained quickly by chronic stress, poor nutrition, prescription medications and lack of sleep. Supplements like BodyLogicMD Pure Energy are scientifically formulated to increase mitochondrial reserves and boost cellular energy production with powerful antioxidants that also recharge levels of vitamins C and E for a boost of immunity.

- 6 Yoga Stretches for Sciatic Pain Relief
One of the most common complaints I hear about is sciatic nerve pain, lower back pain and the feeling of "throwing your back out." The best way to alleviate most sciatica pain is to do any stretch that can externally rotate the hip. Here are six exercises that do just that: Reclining Pigeon Pose Pigeon pose is a common yoga pose. It works to open the hips. There are multiple versions of this stretch. The first is a starting version known as the reclining pigeon pose. If you are just starting your treatment, you should try the reclining pose first. While on your back, bring your right leg up to a right angle. Clasp both hands behind the thigh, locking your fingers. Lift your left leg and place your right ankle on top of the left knee. Hold the position for a moment. This helps stretch the tiny piriformis muscle, which sometimes becomes inflamed and presses against the sciatic nerve, causing pain. Do the same exercise with the other leg. Once you can do the reclining version without pain, work on the sitting and forward versions of pigeon pose: Sitting Pigeon Pose Sit on the floor with your legs stretched out straight in front of you. Bend your right leg, putting your right ankle on top of the left knee. Lean forward and allow your upper body to reach toward your thigh. Hold for 15 to 30 seconds. This stretches the glutes and lower back. Repeat on the other side. Forward Pigeon Pose Kneel on the floor on all fours. Pick up your right leg and move it forward on the ground in front of your body. Your lower leg should be on the ground, horizontal to the body. Your right foot should be in front of your right knee while your right knee stays to the right. Stretch the left leg out all the way behind you on the floor, with the top of the foot on the ground and toes pointing back. Shift your body weight gradually from your arms to your legs so that your legs are supporting your weight. Sit up straight with your hands on either side of your legs. Take a deep breath. While exhaling, lean your upper body forward over your front leg. Support your weight with your arms as much as possible. Repeat on the other side. Knee to Opposite Shoulder This simple stretch helps relieve sciatica pain by loosening your gluteal and piriformis muscles, which can become inflamed and press against the sciatic nerve. Lie on your back with your legs extended and your feet flexed upward. Bend your right leg and clasp your hands around the knee. Gently pull your right leg across your body toward your left shoulder. Hold it there for 30 seconds. Remember to pull your knee only as far as it will comfortably go. You should feel a relieving stretch in your muscle, not pain. Push your knee so your leg returns to its starting position. Repeat for a total of 3 reps, and then switch legs. Sitting Spinal Stretch Sciatica pain is triggered when vertebrae in the spine compress. This stretch helps create space in the spine to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. Sit on the ground with your legs extended straight out with your feet flexed upward. Bend your right knee and place your foot flat on the floor on the outside of your opposite knee. Place your left elbow on the outside of your right knee to help you gently turn your body toward the right. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat three times, then switch sides. Standing Hamstring Stretch This stretch can help ease pain and tightness in the hamstring caused by sciatica. Place your right foot on an elevated surface at or below your hip level. This could be a chair, ottoman, or step on a staircase. Flex your foot so your toes and leg are straight. If your knee tends to hyperextend, keep a slight bend in it. Bend your body forward slightly toward your foot. The further you go, the deeper the stretch. Do not push so far that you feel pain. Release the hip of your raised leg downward as opposed to lifting it up. If you need help easing your hip down, loop a yoga strap or long exercise band over your right thigh and under your left foot. Hold for at least 30 seconds, and then repeat on the other side.
- Stop Fighting Your Body's Immune System
Could "Externally-Induced Fever" such as Sauna be a way to keep your body healthy? Important aspects of our immune system- like the role of fever response to illness- have gone overlooked within the current dominant practice of western medicine. Sometimes we need a different way of looking at something to recognize its value. "Externally-induced fever" as a practice dates back hundred's of years, notably: The Finnish sauna, Russian banya, Japanese mushi-buro, and Korean jimjilbang. These are all examples of traditional medicine practices that all, in fact, have solid scientific backing. In all of these, a person is exposed to extreme hot temperatures followed by a rapid cooling- emulating the body's fever response to attack, which impacts and empowers our immune system. According to modern science, fever does not threaten our well-being, it in fact, actually is preserving it. Benefits are similar, whether externally or internally induced, the benefits of fever have been know for generations. Research has found that imposing dramatic body temperature changes can improve immune function, specifically the type of immune function which many viruses including COVID-19 are known to attack. Hot and Cold One of the key features of our innate immune response is increased body temperature or fever. Fever burns off pathogens. Fevers of 39.5C (103.1F) were linked to better survival and quicker recovery. Researchers found that a fever could activate monocytes. And, despite popular belief, short periods of cold exposure did not actually lower immune response. On the contrary, a 1999 study found that cold exposure could stimulate immunity in much the same way fever does. So when your immune system mounts that fever early in the course of an infection, it is doing exactly what it has been designed for millions of years to do. That means the best thing you can do is not get in its way. This post was inspired by an article at the epochtimes.com. - Discovering Spiritual Gifts
From the age of about 12, I began "hearing" and seeing things that I no longer could deny was actual. I heard phrases and statements that I completely did not understand, but was insisted that I write down and illustrate in some cases. It was as if I were running around the house with a water bucket, attempting to catch words falling from the ceiling. I scribbled, typed and drew as fast as I possibly could until I were made to go to bed. I then secretly went back to my drawing pads to continue as I felt that the words would crash to the ground like glass if I were to ignore. I became anxious of what would happen if I did, so I continued. I didn't know why this was happening or when it would stop. It made me nervous and I honestly wished it would leave me alone. Of course as I grew older, it became something that guided me into a far better person. One with strange abilities than those around me didn't seem to have, and I had to learn to keep it to myself. Over time, I started learning that I just KNEW things about others that were not obvious as they were to me. I saw transparent information around people, such as how they felt about things, brothers and sisters, parents and even their animal people. It was as if people came with a package of information like a backpack that revealed the basics of their lives. Unfortunately, along with the good thoughts of others came the bad. I had a teen crush on a girl in school that I saw on occasion. Upon one of my meetings with her, I had drawn a sketch to impress her. I clearly saw her mind look up from the drawing and think "Awe, that is so sweet but I am not interested in this pizza face boy." The sound of her mind rang in my ears for what seemed years. It was at this moment that I realized that having the ability to read people is a double-edged sword in that you cannot have the good truth without the harsh truth. As interesting and helpful as this might seem, it bothered me on all levels. Even as a young teen, I often contemplated if I were mentally unstable. At night, I would see someone standing at the foot of my bed, and call them out to my dad. It was absolutely shocking to me to discover that he could not see them as well. I mean, this was my protector, my idol, my dad. And all he could say is "Turn out the lights and nothing can see you in the dark, especially anyone you THINK you are seeing." All this explanation as they stared on patiently waiting for me to get back to it when my parents left my room. My mother would discover my drawing pads and writings and question with great disturbance in her voice, "why are you copying this stuff and where are you copying it from?" she would insist. I told her that I wrote them myself to her dismay. She attempted to dismiss the whole question repeatedly until she would read subjects about love and sometimes intense passion. "how could you possibly understand these things about love? You are 12 years old!" she proclaimed of my ignorance. I actually had no idea myself. I heard the bright people explaining things to me and it was simply what I did so they would eventually stop. There were no questions of it being right or wrong, only if I did or did not. ASCENDING SCALE I recall being in the second grade. Teachers would usher me out of my home room class, usually instigated by my favorite Mrs. Bell. They would sit me down in an area reserved for unique learning needs and handicapped children. Mrs. Bell would introduce me to the teacher of another grade in which I had never met, and ask me strange adult questions about their personal lives. "Do you see Mrs. whomever's son getting into a particular college?" Or "Is Mrs. whomever's husband spending time with another woman?" It seemed the more I answered them, the more often they came around with more questions. They always had the same peculiar expressions on their faces throughout. At one point, I had a music teacher that was particularly interested in my answers I had been giving the teachers. She took me to her room littered with instruments and posters of composers in which I didn't have a clue about. She turned out the lights and asked me to relax. She said "I want to lead you through a creative exercise and just see what happens." So she began. She guided me through a series of techniques with the intention of letting go of my physical body, focusing on my spiritual self. I recall everything turning white as I drifted higher and higher as my body grew heavier. We eventually arrived at a stopping place where I was to identify those in my spiritual view, and what they were saying.I told her I was there with a tall, glowing man and 2 female angels. She asked me several questions about me, them and then her. I can not remember the nature of or the questions she had prepared, but one answer made a gentle and distracting gasp to her mouth. I would not find out until about 15 years later what that answer was. We returned me to my physical body and then to my homeroom class, all with a strange expression on her face. I saw Mrs. Bell and her exchange in conversation and at one point both looked directly at me in surprise. More on all that later. Mrs. Bell took me aside that day after class. She sat me down in my little plastic blue chair with little black metal legs. She told me "you are very special young man. Can you bring me some of the things you like to write and draw at home?" And so I did. This went on for years, until I moved on to another. This was the first person to encourage that I share this type of information, as well as continue catching them into my collection of frantic water buckets. I guess for that alone, I owe her thanks to my success, my understanding, and experiences gained due to the place on her path that she was. Wherever you are Mrs. Bell, I want to thank you for releasing the chains that attempted to bind me. Visit this blog regularly for the continuing story. #spiritual #meditation #spirituality
- What is Reiki?
One of the most powerful things I learned upon my soul's journey was a single profound concept that carried into all others. Our soul's energy makeup is not limited to the outer shell of our body. This is true, proven and a scientific fact. Our souls, comprised of energy provided and connected to the higher source is able to move, change, and expand beyond the skin of our body. This concept alone changes EVERYTHING. Our personal energy having the means to extend outside of our own affords us the ability to heal and influence those around us. There are many resources about how the soul's energy can create such influence in our material world, including NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell, the lunar module pilot of Apollo 14 mission. Mitchell conducted many empirical experiments based on energy influence on things around us including plants, animals and people. These are documented in his published books including "Psychic Exploration" and "The Way of the Explorer." As incredible a notion of soul's unlimited boundaries, is the fact that we can become an instrument to "channel" healing energy from the higher source, into another person. Reiki healing for instance, "A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being" is an example of this. I myself am a Reiki practitioner, however I have seen many natural born healers have the ability to use Reiki energy for influencing the better wellness of others. To truly harness the talent of a Reiki practitioner or master, one should seek out a true Reiki teacher. One of the most incredible things I experienced about Reiki, is that it is a "dynamic" healing technique. This meaning that when Reiki healing energy produced and channeled from the higher source enters the body of a receiver, the healing energy travels to the areas in need of healing regardless of the entry point. This makes Reiki intelligent, dynamic and exciting to work with as a healing therapy. Reiki is nondenominational. You can practice any religion and still use and benefit from Reiki. Reiki Founder Mikao Usui was influenced by the religions of his country, but Reiki isn't associated with any religion, and people of all faiths and beliefs are Reiki practitioners. Quickly stated, Reiki practitioners undergo a series of learning procedures and levels called "attunements" whereas the practitioners body is spiritually and physically adjusted in a way that better receives and passes along Reiki healing energy. I personally went through major physical changes as well as obvious spiritual ones as I became a Reiki practitioner. Reiki is becoming a very popular technique that hands-on service providers are adopting worldwide, including nurses, massage therapists and other professions whereas one on one contact and healing are the intended outcome. I highly suggest searching for a very reputable source if interested in becoming a Reiki practitioner or "Reiki Master," and research both cost and teacher lineage if available. I would also shy away from simply using an online video to learn something this sacred and powerfully life changing. I would suggest a teacher that can actually "experience" your Reiki energy levels as you learn the technique. Something a video can not do as far as I know to date ; ). - Meditation: Stilling the Mind
I have had many meditation friends say "I have begun the process of meditating, but I simply cannot slow down my thoughts and relax." TECHNIQUE FOR SLOWING DOWN THE MIND FOR MEDITATION. When it comes to the basic principles of meditation, being quiet and still is paramount. IN FACT, IT IS A MUST. Everyone beginning the process of meditation has gone through the same process of calming the mind and soul to better focus. Here is a wonderful technique I was taught to regain control over my mediations when daily thoughts and emotions were disrupting my peaceful mind. BEGIN Find yourself relaxing in a peaceful and comfortable seated position. If you tend to fall asleep while stilling the mind, play some relaxing music without lyrics. Visualize yourself on the center stage of a large outdoor amphitheater under the peaceful stars. Visualize as you sit centered upon the stage, that there is a back stage on either side as you face out toward the empty seats of the theater. As you sit in appreciation of this relaxing setting, imagine that topics, emotions and/or thoughts that push their way into your mediation session are now forced to line up in a single line on either side of the back stage wings. Give each permission only one at a time, to come onto the stage with you and present themselves. Now make a decision for each. One by one, look at the thought, emotion or topic. Consider if this one is something that is needs to remain, or if it doesn't have a need to remain. If it is a negative, insecure or fearful thought - then cast it out to space to never return. Allow the starts to now have that energy. If it needs to remain, send it behind to your backstage, behind the curtain for the appropriate time. Do this one by one, really considering each thought form that feels it should command your attention. Then either send it away, or send it back stage. END You will find sometimes in the same sitting, or sometimes after weeks of sittings - your thinking mind has been taught to be controlled by YOU rather than THEM, your thoughts. And even further in your practice, you will find this particularly useful when you realize that your thoughts are responsible for manifesting your own reality. And that thoughts are powerful things and thoughts and visualizations BECOME YOUR REALITY CREATED BY NO OTHER THAN YOU. Amazing things await you and congratulations on the progress of your path! #meditation #meditationforbeginner #stressmanagement #alternativetherapy #restore #heart #conciousness #ascend
