- Inflammaging
We all want to Stay Feeling Young. Remember wondering what you'd look like when you grew up? Wasn't it so exciting to imagine yourself as an adult? Well, at the time, yeah—it was exciting, but how about now? Unfortunately, we can’t reverse the aging process, but we can offer you some tips & tricks to help reduce the signs of aging, specifically inflammaging. What is Inflammageing? In simpler terms, inflammaging is a term used to describe aging induced by chronic inflammation. Inflammation is your body's process of fighting or healing something whether that be an infection, injury or toxin. Acute inflammation is temporary, your body releases chemicals that trigger a healing response and once the infection, injury or toxin is gone, the inflammation is gone too. However with chronic inflammation, inflammatory chemicals do not turn off leaving your body in a constant state of alert. Inflammaging can accelerate the aging process and may worsen some age-related symptoms and diseases: Tissue Damage Chronic Skin Conditions Collagen Loss Difficulties Fighting Skin Infections Inflammaging has also been linked to mental health conditions like depression as well as neuroinflammation associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. What Causes Inflammaging? Several environmental factors may influence the course of aging, such as: Pollutants Dietary Factors Chronic Stress Smoking Obesity Radiation How to Manage Inflammaging Our foods and habits can speed up this process by providing the perfect storm for inflammation which breaks down the architecture of the skin. While inflammation can’t be completely prevented, it can be managed with a healthy lifestyle. If you want to avoid medication for treating inflammation, making healthy changes to your lifestyle should be your first step in managing inflammaging. Foods that can speed up the aging process are said to include: Sugar and sweetened fruit juices, soda, Refined carbohydrates: white pasta, white bread, pastries, baked goods made with sugars and refined foods, Fried foods, cooked vegetable oils found in store-bought baked goods, Margarine, shortening, trans fats, Ultra-processed foods with food additives ie. artificial food dyes and flavoring, preservatives etc, Modern wheat gluten, Processed dairy It is recommended to discuss your dietary needs with a nutritionist to optimize your health. Foods that may reduce the aging process include: Olives and extra-virgin olive oil, Avocados and avocado oil, Nuts and seeds: Walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, Root vegetables: sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots, Leafy greens: kale, arugula, spinach, Artichokes, pomegranate seeds, green tea, matcha green tea Ginger, turmeric, mint, basil, cardamom, cilantro, garlic, onions, Fish and seafood especially wild salmon, sardines and mackerel Healthy Habits to Help Maintain a Youthful Aging Process: Movement - Reduce Inflammation by exercising for 20 minutes per day. Sleep - Minimum of 8 Hours per day, lack of sleep can increase inflammation in blood. Stress Reducing Hobbies - Taking time out to do something you love (Meditation, Yoga, Paint), can reduce the number of stress circulating chemicals in your body and therefore, reduce inflammation. Breathe - Studies show that deep breathing reduces the stress response and heart rate which can reduce inflammation. Inflammaging is common in seniors and is usually considered a symptom of a greater health condition. It is important to identify chronic inflammation early on to prevent long-term damage to your body. If you want to help manage your aging process, change your diet, change your lifestyle and talk to your doctor about anti-inflammatory treatments & medications. The first step is to get the conversation started. - Why Thyroid Function Matters
WHY should you care about your thyroid? To put it simply, your thyroid is a small gland that sits at the base of your neck and is responsible for the production and release of key hormones that play a significant role in almost every cell function in the body. The thyroid helps to regulate many body functions by constantly releasing a steady amount of thyroid hormone into the bloodstream. Hormones are chemicals that assist different functions in the body by carrying messages through your blood to your organs, skin, muscles and various other tissues. These signals tell your body what to do and when to do it. When your thyroid isn’t working properly, it can impact your entire body and affect how you feel on a day-to-day basis. Your thyroid produces and releases the following hormones: Thyroxine (T4): This is the main hormone your thyroid makes and releases. Although your thyroid makes the most of this hormone, it doesn’t have much of an effect on your metabolism. Once your thyroid releases T4 into your bloodstream, it can convert to T3 through a process called deiodination. Triiodothyronine (T3): Your thyroid produces less amounts of T3 than T4, but it has a much greater effect on your metabolism than T4. Reverse triiodothyronine (RT3): Your thyroid makes very small amounts of RT3, which reverses the effects of T3. Calcitonin: This hormone helps regulate the amount of calcium in your blood. In order to make thyroid hormones, your thyroid gland needs iodine, an element found in food and water. Your thyroid gland traps iodine and transforms it into thyroid hormones. Your thyroid hormones affect the following bodily functions: How your body uses energy (metabolism). Heart rate. Breathing. Digestion. Body temperature. Brain development. Mental activity. Skin and bone maintenance. Fertility. If the thyroid produces too high a volume of thyroid hormones, you are said to have an overactive thyroid. This condition is known as hyperthyroidism. If you have Hyperthyroidism you may experience: Unexplained weight loss Feeling tired all of the time Poor tolerance to the heat and/or sweating Rapid heart rate Tremors (usually in the hands) Difficulty sleeping Excessive sweating or fever Diarrhea Mood changes, such as anxiety Irregular period Low sex drive Enlarged thyroid gland (goiter) Eye condition related to hyperthyroidism If the thyroid produces too low a volume of thyroid hormones, you are said to have an underactive thyroid. This is known as hypothyroidism. If you have Hypothyroidism you may experience: Unexplained weight gain Feeling tired all of the time Hair loss or thinning Poor tolerance of the cold Mood changes, such as depression A slower pulse or heart rate Dry skin Constipation Brain fog and/or impaired memory Hand tingling or pain (carpal tunnel syndrome) Irregular period or low sex drive Muscle cramps Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder that can cause hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. Hashimoto thyroiditis affects an estimated 1 to 2 % of people in the United States. It is said to occur more often in women than in men, which may be related to hormonal factors. Hashimoto's thyroiditis can cause your thyroid to not make enough thyroid hormone. It occurs when your body makes antibodies that attack the cells in your thyroid. Symptoms may include an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter), tiredness, weight gain, and muscle weakness. Treatment is available for Hashimoto's disease through a medical provider. Your thyroid is tied into the endocrine system, which is a network of several glands that create and secrete hormones. Endocrine glands release hormones directly into the bloodstream. These glands make up the endocrine system: Hypothalamus Pituitary gland Thyroid Parathyroid glands Adrenal glands Pineal gland Pancreas Ovaries Testes The 3 vital functions of your endocrine system are: 1)make Hormones for Mood, Development, and Growth 2) Send Hormones into Your Bloodstream 3) Regulate the Release of Hormones. Get your Thyroid Healthy & Happy Addressing issues with your thyroid may be one of the most important things that you learn about your body. It’s important to see a professional if you feel you are experiencing any symptoms of thyroid disorders. A simple blood test will determine the levels in your body, and a treatment plan can be devised and executed. The first step is to get the conversation started. - Treating Urinary Incontinence with Viveve
This can be such a hard topic for women to talk or even think about. Between time & maybe a few children you might have noticed some differences "down there". Luckily vaginal rejuvenation aims to tighten vaginal tissue & muscles leaving you with more benefits than just not peeing a little when you sneeze. Let's take a look at how it can help you! What is vaginal rejuvenation? Vaginal rejuvenation is a broad term for vaginal corrective treatments. These procedures can be done for cosmetic reasons or to solve age-related problems, such as lack of vaginal tightness and urinary incontinence. There are many treatments, pills, creams and advanced technology that aid in tightening the vaginal walls & muscles. Some of the other benefits of vaginal rejuvenation include: Restoration of tightness in the vaginal canal. Enhanced sexual sensation. Reduced urinary incontinence. Improved personal comfort. Who can benefit from vaginal rejuvenation? While it may be obvious to some, others wonder how to know when it's time to consider such a procedure. If you are experiencing the following, you may want to consider vaginal rejuvenation. Do tampons feel like they are slipping out? Does your vagina feel loose during intimacy? Have you noticed a decrease in physical sensation during intimacy? Is the fit with your partner not as snug as in the past? Do you sometimes feel air flowing from your vagina? Treating Urinary incontinence with Viveve™ and how may it help me? There are many treatments out there for vaginal rejuvenation but one of the most effective is Viveve™. Viveve™ is a vaginal tightening procedure approved by the FDA for use in rejuvenating vaginal tissue and muscles with gentle but powerful radiofrequency heat energy. And because Viveve™ vaginal rejuvenation is a non-surgical treatment, treating urinary incontinence with Viveve is pain-free during the procedure and no downtime afterward. Patients can return to work or their normal daily activities – including exercise and sexual intimacy – immediately following their appointment. How Viveve™ works Tutera Medical offers this procedure and walks us through the process. They state "The Viveve procedure applies targeted thermal energy to targeted areas of the vagina with a slim wand that emits radiofrequency waves. The RF ways penetrate the vaginal tissue, where they stimulate renewed collagen production in the vagina, labia and surrounding tissue. The increased collagen production strengthens and thickens the walls of the vagina and surrounding pelvic structures. Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation also includes a proprietary cooling process that helps ensure a comfortable and painless procedure. As the vaginal walls become thicker and stronger, the vagina feels tighter and bladder control is dramatically improved. This serves to increase sexual sensation, reduces vaginal dryness, and also stop embarrassing bladder leaks. Just a single one hour vaginal rejuvenation treatment is all that is needed for most women to experience relief of their symptoms. Patients typically notice vaginal improvement within the first few weeks after treatment. As the body continues to produce collagen over time, the results will continue to improve for 6 to 9 weeks – after which time most women experience optimal improvement in sexual sensitivity, vaginal tightness, reduced pain during intercourse, and maximum bladder control." If you are experiencing embarrassing or painful vaginal problems, you are not alone. Book a Viveve session today! - Surprising Wellness Benefits of Botox
Botox is a popular cosmetic treatment that has been around since the 1990s. Botox is used to treat wrinkles and other signs of aging and can help smooth out lines and wrinkles on your face. While Botox is best known for its wrinkle-reducing properties, it also has other surprising benefits that might make you consider getting it done by your doctor or a licensed professional. Some botox benefits for wellness and other amazing uses may include: Botox is FDA-approved to treat wrinkles. You may have heard of Botox, but are you aware that it’s the only FDA-approved treatment for wrinkles? It’s also one of the most studied and researched wrinkle treatments. Botox is FDA-approved for: All forms of glabellar lines (also known as “frown lines”) in adults aged 18–65 years; Crow's feet (wrinkles around your eyes) in adults aged 19–65 years; and Hyperhidrosis armpits or underarms in people aged 18 or older. Botox can help treat migraines. If you suffer from migraines, you may be able to use Botox to treat them. Botox is a neurotoxin that can reduce the severity of headaches by relaxing the muscles around your eyes and forehead. It's also been found to help reduce the number of migraines per month and their duration. Botox may help reduce excessive sweating. Sweat glands are controlled by nerves. Botox blocks the signals from those nerves, so it can help control sweating. The effect is not permanent, but if you have hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), Botox may be an effective treatment for you. Botox injections can be used to treat sweating in the armpits and hands and other areas of excessive sweating like the face or chest. This procedure requires a series of injections at regular intervals over several months or years to keep your sweat glands calm and under control. Botox may help with TMJ and jaw tension. TMJ is a disorder that can affect the jaw joint and cause pain, stiffness, muscle spasms, headaches, and other symptoms. Sometimes TMJ is related to grinding the teeth or clenching one's jaw during the day. Botox may help relax the muscles in your face that cause TMJ symptoms by reducing muscle spasms in your jaw and neck. Studies have shown this treatment can reduce pain by an average of 38% as well as reduce stiffness (50%) and headaches (57%). Botox may help with overactive bladder. Overactive bladder is a condition where you have to urinate frequently and it's common in women. It can cause a lot of discomfort and embarrassment, so it's good that there are treatments available. Botox can help with overactive bladder by relaxing the bladder muscles, making it easier to hold urine until you're ready to go number one or two. Botox may be able to help with vertigo symptoms. You may have heard of vertigo, the sensation of dizziness or spinning. If you have it, you can feel like the world is moving around you, even though it isn't. It's actually caused by a problem with your inner ear and end up feeling this way for no reason at all. What causes vertigo? Vertigo occurs when something in your ear changes how it sends messages to your brain about how you're standing and moving through space. This can happen after an injury or infection such as those that cause Meniere's disease (which often affects one ear), but anyone can get it at any time for reasons unknown--this is what doctors call "benign paroxysmal positional vertigo" (BPPV). Vertigos also tend to be short-lived but can last longer than just a few minutes if they don't resolve on their own; they may reappear if another sudden change happens in your head or neck position instead of resolving naturally. Botox can help with relief from pelvic pain for women. Dyspareunia (painful intercourse) is a commonly reported symptom in women who have undergone treatment for breast cancer. In fact, dyspareunia is one of the most common sexual side effects after mastectomy surgery and radiation therapy. Botox injections into the vagina have been shown to reduce symptoms associated with painful intercourse in up to 90% of patients who tried it. Dysmenorrhea (premenstrual syndrome) is another common gynecological condition that can be helped by Botox injections into your pelvic floor muscles Dyschezia (difficult or painful bowel movements) affects millions of men and women each year, causing them pain when they go to the bathroom as well as a loss in quality of life. Interstitial cystitis involves pain and discomfort associated with urination that typically occurs only when the bladder is full.* Featured medical partner Tutera Medical Locations in Arizona Phone: 480.874.1515 Email questions to: info@tuteramedical.com Want to learn more about Tutera Medical? - Valentine’s Day Vibes
February is typically considered the season of LOVE...Valentine's Day is right around the corner and you may not be feeling it. That’s ok. It’s a perfectly normal part of aging. But did you know there can be a simple way to feel better and have more energy and increased libido? Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy may be something to ask your medical provider about. This Valentine's Day, Get in the Mood Do you find yourself experiencing annoying symptoms (like can’t sleep at night or hot flashes) and can't figure out what’s going on with your body? You might be suffering from a hormone imbalance. As we age, our bodies begin to produce fewer hormones causing an imbalance. Unbalanced Hormones can cause poor mood and health, as well as these other symptoms in the body: Weight gain Anxiety and depression Low energy and sex drive Brain fog and poor memory Hot flashes and night sweats Hair loss and dry skin What is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)? Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a non-invasive surgical treatment that can restore the hormone levels in the body using a copy of the hormones that the body produces naturally. Bioidentical hormones are typically derived from natural sources, such as yams or roots, that mimic the molecular structure of the hormones our bodies create. The treatment is called pellet therapy because it comes in the form of tiny pellets that are placed just under the skin. You may have heard of other modalities of hormone therapy such as pills, creams or patches. It is believed by many medical providers that pellet therapy is the best modality to use for hormone therapy. The reason is pretty simple - Not ALL people will absorb hormones as consistently as they do with pellets, which are cardio activated (meaning they are absorbed through cardio activity - the more active you are the more you will need to absorb). Bioidentical hormone pellet therapy can allow the body to absorb trace amounts of vital hormones for 3-6 months at a time. Restoring Valentine's Day Intimacy If low libido and reduced sex drive were included in your list of hormone imbalance symptoms, then pellet therapy treatment could also potentially help increase intimacy with your partner. Don't just deal with symptoms of aging, see if BHRT can help you feel better. After therapy, many patients have reported: Increased Energy, Stamina and Recovery Stronger Libido with Improved Sensitivity Reduced or Eliminated Hot Flashes Clarity of Mind and Better Memory Deceased joint pain and illness “I really struggled with weight gain, depression, and loss of interest at work. I was diagnosed with depression but didn’t feel better. I saw Dr. Robinson and he found low T. I had pellets placed and my depression is gone, I’m off depression medications and enjoying work and home again!” - James, Prosper Direct Health Patient Fall in Love with BHRT Overall, bioidentical pellet therapy can optimize the balance of your health and wellness and it all starts with a simple blood test. - 7 Foods that can Lower Blood Pressure
High blood pressure often has no warning signs or symptoms, and many people may not know they have it. The thing to know is - High blood pressure can cause serious injury to important organs like your Heart, Brain, Kidneys, and Eyes if left untreated. Over time, high blood pressure can damage arteries by making them less elastic, which will likely decrease the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart (leading to heart disease). There are many lifestyle changes you can make to help prevent and lower high blood pressure including: more exercise, eating healthier and less alcohol. We recommend trying to eat these 7 Foods shown to help lower Blood Pressure. What is Blood Pressure? Blood pressure is the force exerted by blood as it pushes against the walls of your blood vessels. It's generally reported as two numbers: An upper number, called systolic pressure, and a lower number, called diastolic pressure. According to the American Heart Association; Normal systolic blood pressure in adults is lower than 120 and normal diastolic pressure is lower than 80. How Does High Blood Pressure Affect Your Health? High Blood Pressure can cause many Health Issues including: Heart Attack and Heart Disease - This happens when High blood pressure causes the arteries to be less elastic, which decreases the flow of blood and oxygen to your heart. Stroke and Brain Problems - High blood pressure can cause the arteries that supply blood and oxygen to the brain to burst or be blocked, causing a stroke. Kidney Disease - With high blood pressure, the kidneys can be damaged and may not filter blood as well as they should. Because of this, excess fluid and waste from blood remain in the body. How Can I Lower My Blood Pressure? It has been shown in studies that getting regular adequate sleep, 30 minutes of exercise, and taking slow deep breaths can help reduce high blood pressure. It is also important to pay attention to your sodium intake and alcohol consumption, as these things can also play a role in high blood pressure. Pairing healthier eating with more exercise can help regulate blood pressure in the body. A healthy eating plan, weight loss and improved aerobic fitness can certainly reduce blood pressure and improve heart health in people suffering from hypertension – a condition in which blood pressure remains high despite the use of medications. These are 7 Food recommendations to help lower Blood Pressure: Avocado Berries Broccoli Carrots Celery Salmon Tomatoes Avocado - can help remove sodium from your system while supporting better blood flow Berries - Berries contain a flavonoid called anthocyanin, which is a powerful antioxidant. Anthocyanins can help lower blood pressure by increasing nitric oxide, which opens up blood vessels Broccoli - rich in heart-healthy flavonoids, Studies show that eating 4 serving a week can decrease risk for high blood pressure. Carrots - full of phenolic compounds, which are substances found in plants that have antioxidant effects and can help your blood vessels relax to promote blood flow. Celery - Celery contains phthalides, a type of natural plant compound that can help expand smooth muscle in your blood vessels, which may contribute to lower blood pressure. Salmon - Contains omega-3 fatty acids which have been known to lower blood pressure. They can also help lower heart rate and improve blood vessel function. Tomatoes - the fruit is rich in lycopene, a natural plant compound and antioxidant that may support heart health and blood pressure. - The Pursuit of Providing Healthy, Happy Lifestyle
Like many others, Brett Markowitz experienced first-hand the unsettling effects of Candida (a fungal infection caused by yeast) coupled with childhood obesity. Having triumphed through this, Markowitz began taking health and wellness personally. He set a goal to one day help permanently change people's everyday wellness habits, so more people are equipped with the knowledge and ability to live a healthier and happier life. Markowitz gained AED and CPR certifications as a Certified Personal Trainer, and qualified with the American Council on Exercise and the International Sports Science Association. Markowitz later saw a gap in the space of regenerative and anti-aging medicine and recognized that few med spa clinics were addressing the weight loss and anti-aging needs in patients at the root cause rather than "slapping a bandage on a broken arm." He began to formulate a plan of success that pinpointed what he found to be necessary treatments for aging such as medical weight loss solutions, sexual dysfunction treatments, a focus on hormone balance, peptide therapy and also aesthetics. AgeRejuvenation was recently founded by Brett Markowitz with a mission to provide the public with functional clinics specializing in the latest breakthrough medicine and therapies for weight loss, nutrition, anti-aging, and hormonal balance solutions for men & women. Markowitz found that the key to success was educating patients and customizing individualized treatments that treat the root cause of patient issues - not just treating symptoms. AgeRejuvenation clinics in Florida now offer a wide variety of treatments in anti-aging and functional medicine including: • Weight Loss Solutions (e.g. Wegovy, medical supervised weight loss and vitamin injections), • Sexual Dysfunction Treatments (e.g. P shot and PulseWave Rx therapy), • a focus on Hormone Balancing (including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and thyroid function), • Peptide Therapy and Stem Cells, Hair Restoration • and Aesthetics (e.g. Botox, fillers and cool sculpting). Erectile Dysfunction affects about 30 million men in the United States. “Erectile dysfunction a common situation that happens with aging, but it can also be from other medical conditions that you have such as: heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and smoking. So it’s not an easy thing to be able to overcome. “ says AJ Piovesan, PA-C, an ageRejuvenation provider. ageRejuvenation clinics offer solutions to treat Erectile Dysfunction Starting with a simple blood test, your labs will determine hormone levels that are directly connected to erectile function. Once your hormone levels are evaluated, your medical provider can determine whether hormone replacement therapy would benefit you. Hormone replacement therapy replenishes depleted hormones in the body and helps to restore natural order and aide natural erectile function Pulsewave Another option in treating Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the Pulsewave device that can help to increase blood flow and volume as well as enhancing erections and sensitivity. Pulsewave restores penile blood flow by stimulating angiogenesis, disintegrating plaque build up, suppressing inflammation, recruiting growth and tissue repair factors and releasing nitric oxide to relax blood vessels- All of which results in better erections. P Shots P shots are another treatment option, where stem cells can be injected into the penis and help blood flow from a vascular source. The P-Shot involves taking platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your blood and injecting it into your penis. This means your medical provider takes your own cells and tissues and injects them into your penile tissues to promote tissue growth and purportedly give you better erections. The important thing is to know about ED, is why this is maybe occurring and how to overcome it. Testosterone is an important hormone. It can boost libido, increase muscle mass, sharpen memory, and bump up energy. However, most men and women lose testosterone with age. - Does the Fear of Recovery Pain Keep you from Working Out?
Do you often feel like you’re overly sore after you workout? Does this prevent you from wanting to go to the gym? If so, you might be curious to know some tips on how to speed up muscle recovery after your workouts. Muscle damage and soreness is inevitable if you're trying to build strength and fitness. However, you CAN help your body recover faster by doing some simple things post-workout. 1. Maintaining Hydration When we exercise, our body loses fluids and salts known as electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium). Because of this, hydrating properly, regularly and after a tough workout is essential for giving your muscles what they need to repair themselves. One way to make this easy on yourself is to invest in an oversized cup that you can just refill with water throughout the day. The exact amount of water you should drink will depend on how much you lose. If you're exercising for over an hour, make sure to add electrolytes to your water to replenish any lost salts. 2. Get Enough Good Sleep Muscles and tissues repair and rejuvenate as we sleep, so if you're not getting a sufficient amount of rest each night, it's going to be harder for your body to bounce back from an injury. Sleep helps muscles release protein-building amino acids into the bloodstream at an increased rate which helps them grow bigger and stronger over time. Sleep is shown to release growth hormones during REM sleep, which can help with muscle repair. For every two hours of time an athlete spends awake and stressed, it can take about one hour of sleep to recover. This means that if an athlete is awake and under stress 16 hours a day, at least 8 hours of sleep are required for the body to recover from the overload. 3. Refuel With Protein and Carbs After a competition or workout, you could try to focus on getting carbs and protein into your body. This can give your muscles the ability to replenish the glycogen they just lost through training and can help your tired muscles rebuild and repair with the available protein and amino acids. For muscle recovery, complex carbs are said to be your best choice. Complex carbohydrates are found in foods such as peas, beans, whole grains, and vegetables. These are shown to help to restore your glycogen levels in a healthier way. After a strength-training workout, nutritional experts say aim for a 2-to-1 ratio of carbs to protein (meaning 20 to 40 grams of carbs and 10 to 20 grams of protein). If you completed an endurance (aerobic) workout like jogging, the ratio shifts to 3-to-1 (with 30 to 60 grams of carbs and 10 to 20 grams of protein). 3. Do Some Active Recovery Active recovery restores your muscles after exercise. Active recovery is often considered more beneficial than inactivity, resting completely, or sitting. It can keep blood flowing and help muscles recover and rebuild from intense physical activity. Try a low-intensity exercise (like walking or swimming) after higher-intensity workouts. With active recovery, you can increase blood flow to your muscles and help remove toxins from your body that build up during exercise. This can help you feel better much faster after major workouts. One should avoid active recovery if feeling injured or in a lot of pain. 4. Massage Therapy or Foam Rollers Massage appears to have a positive effect on athletes' perceptions about muscle recovery. Massage is most likely to reduce delayed muscle soreness when administered two to six hours after intense exercise. The best types of massage to improve recovery post-workout can include a combination of sports massage, remedial, deep tissue and relaxation massage. Including these massage types in your post-workout routine is shown to help to relieve pain and muscle tension, as well as provide therapeutic benefits to the mind. 5. Relax in a Hot Tub or Sauna It has been proven that soaking in a hot tub not only provides relaxation, but it can also reduce joint pain, aid in muscle recovery, and help regulate sleep. Heat therapy helps increase blood flow, stimulate healing, and relax muscles. In fact, you'll benefit from soaking in the hot tub before and after exercise. Studies have shown that both heat and cold therapy can promote healing and prevent muscle damage following exercise. Do you make a New Years Resolution Each Year? Some of the most common New Years resolutions include: healthier eating habits, exercising more, losing weight, optimizing hormones, restoring hair loss, increasing sexual function, and getting aesthetic procedures to improve appearance. No matter what you’re working on this New Year, set yourself up for success by making a plan. Let’s look at some of these self-improvement treatment options and see which one may be right for you! Weightloss There are many things that can lead to unwanted weight gain such as hormonal issues, a sedentary life, poor diet, or even the process of aging. Many people have weight loss success with medical supervised weightloss treatment options. Vitamin Injections, Appetite Suppressants and Wegovy (Semaglutide) Injections are a few weight loss management solutions that provide a positive relationship with food to maintain a healthy lifestyle. “I’ve been losing an average of 2-3 pounds per week. I never feel super hungry or like I’m starving myself, like I did on other programs” - Greg Optimize Your Hormones As you age, your hormone levels decline. Hormones are chemical substances that are used to control internal activities in our bodies, such as metabolism, reproduction, growth, mood, and sexual development. All our hormones work together to regulate processes in our bodies. However, several factors can cause our hormones to change, including: Aging (andropause) Stress Genetics Other underlying health issues When your hormones become unbalanced, this can cause you to feel bad and not like your youthful self. Bioidentical hormone optimization therapy is intended to help when testosterone, estrogen and/or progesterone levels decrease in the body as you age. Bioidentical pellet therapy can mimic the natural molecular structure of the hormones you have naturally in your body. With a simple quick procedure, a pellet(s) is inserted under the skin where it/they attaches to capillaries that take hormones 24/7, as needed, for 3-6 months. After receiving pellet therapy, patients frequently report: improved sleep, mood, energy levels, cognitive function, and sexual function, as well as a reduction in joint pain and belly fat. Restoring Hair Loss It is normal to lose a little hair every day. However, if you notice excessive hair loss or thinning of hair, then you may be experiencing symptoms of hair loss. Here are some of the most common hair loss causes: Genetics Hormonal Changes Excessive Stress Poor Diet Smoking Covid 19 The good news is, there are multiple treatment options available! Studies have shown that receiving PRP injections every 2 to 3 weeks for 3 months can lead to improvements in the number of hairs, the thickness of those hairs, and the strength of the hair roots. Healthy lifestyle guidance is another option to treating hair loss. Beyond immunity, research has shown that individuals following five key habits—eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, keeping a healthy body weight, not drinking too much alcohol, and not smoking—live more than a decade longer than those who don't. Increase Sexual Function Sexual dysfunction can be caused by things other than underlying disease. Examples include: stress, drug use, alcohol consumption, tobacco use, bicycling, or relationship factors and hormonal imbalance. Sexual dysfunction affects both men and women. Physical issues like heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and smoking can all cause sexual dysfunction. On the other hand, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship problems, and other mental health concerns can also interfere with sexual health. Common solutions for healing sexual dysfunction may include the P-Shot, O-Shot, Hormone Therapy or other supplements. The P-Shot involves taking platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your blood and injecting it into your penis. This means your medical provider takes your own cells and tissues and injects them into your penile tissues to promote tissue growth and blood flow give you better erections. The female equivalent to this treatment is called the O-Shot. One of the most successful treatment options for sexual dysfunction is bioidentical hormone therapy. Many patients report increased sex drive after receiving pellet therapy. Some people even reported that pellet therapy SAVED THEIR MARRIAGE. Aesthetics Aesthetic procedures are a quick and simple way to enhance your appearance, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and other common signs of aging. BOTOX is most known for smoothing out wrinkles and creases, it can also make small adjustments to your jawline. Fillers correct moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and skin folds.
